I did not look forward to traveling home for Christmas this year. The weather was 3-5 inches with a layer of ice on top in addition to all the other airline delays I had heard so much about. Last year, I was stuck in JFK for several hours so I expected the worse.
They canceled my flight. The plane never made it to the airport. However, they called my house to tell me it was canceled but I had already left. When I arrived at the airport and was told my flight was canceled I expected the worse. However, they arranged for me to fly on another carrier less than a half hour after I was scheduled to leave originally. The agent even checked my baggage in on the other airline so I didn't have to wait in another long line to check in.
The flight crew was friendly but it was the little things including offering more than one drink and snack on the short flight that made the trip almost enjoyable.
I've flown several different airlines but AmericanAirlines did the little things that made them stand out.
