Pros: Round trip with connections, and all were perfect!
Cons: None ... really!
The Bottom Line: My round trip flight with connections each way was excellent on each leg in every way, from the way the plane was handled, to the service, to the timeliness.

I bought my America West ticket because it was the best price for the dates and route I wanted to travel but I sure was worried when I read the negative opinions on this site.
Granted, maybe I was expecting the worst, but I decided to write in with my opinion after having one of the best flying experiences I've ever had on America West last week.
First of all, I hate flying. I get all anxiety-ridden days before the flight, so the bad e-pinions made it worse. I was flying round trip Los Angeles to Chicago, with a connection in Phoenix both ways -- which made me more nervous. The LAX-PHX part went well, but then in Phoenix they announced a 2-hour delay. "Aha, here come the famous America West delays, just like they all wrote," I thought, but I was prepared and decided to take it in stride. But no! As soon as I hung up the phone after telling my friend in Chicago that I'd be coming in late, America West changed to "on time"! The flight was perfect, the take-off and landing were like feathers, the staff absolutely pleasant, they remembered my vegetarian meal, AND it was good!
But I still didn't want to be too naive; I still had a return flight, right? I had even booked the return for Saturday night so if I got stuck in Phoenix I could get home and recover on Sunday. But America West fooled me again. We did get stuck waiting at O'Hare because of storms but it was the airport's directive, not the airline's fault. We left a half hour late and had to circumvent the storm. Not only did I never feel any turbulence or see any evidence of a storm once we were airborne, we still got to Phoenix early enough to make our connections (ok, I had to run a bit, but like I said, it wasn't their fault). The helpful staff tried to find out where our connection flights were as we landed so we wouldn't have to waste time. Passengers on one flight taking off from another concourse were supplied with a cart. And again they had remembered my veggie meal and it was even tastier than the first one.
Was it a fluke? Or have they improved? I don't know, but based on my four flights in 4 days I'd say they are excellent. I know I have paid more and gotten miserable service. JMHO Thanks! :-)
