Pros: Great service, FOOD not pretzels, free headsets.
Cons: Montego Bay airport, not always on schedule.

| resstation's Full Review: Air Jamaica |
I read with interest the reviews for Air Jamaica. I could not believe some of the comments. One even said that they were shocked the pilot had a Jamaican accent! Why? Are Americans the only ones who know how to fly a plane? Ridiculous.
I have flown frequently both domestic and international routes. I had never had the PLEASURE of flying on Air Jamaica until last Tuesday (Jan 21, 2003). I must say I was completely impressed. I had a business function to attend for the day and so I flew into Jamaica from Atlanta in the morning and back again in the evening. Both flights were very pleasant. I sat in coach - where all the seats on every airplane in the sky are way too cramped. However there was more distance between the seats than most of the US airlines. I did not feel like the person in front of me was sitting on my lap.
On each flight I was given two choices for my meal. I had the pancakes and french toast with sausage in the morning and a chicken and rice dish in the evening. Both were hot and delicious. Compared to the bag of pretzels I have received on other airlines - I felt like I was in first class! They also serve complimentary beer, wine, champagne and soft drinks with the meals.
The first flight out of Atlanta in the morning left on time and arrived right on time in Montego Bay. The afternoon flights are always a mess. Montego Bay incurs more delays than almost any airport I have ever flown out of. Coupled with the less than state of the art facility it makes it a pretty terrible experience.
A few hints, if you are flying to Jamaica, plan to stay at a property that handles your airport check in at the property BEFORE you get to the airport. I know that Sandals Resorts and the Ritz Carlton have this service. Your boarding passes are given to you at the hotel and you do not have to wait in the VERY long line at the airport.
Also, remember that Jamaica is a foreign country. They do not do things like we do in the states. The airport is HOT, there is barely any air condition, people are not customer service oriented as we are accustomed. AND if you have an afternoon flight returning BE PREPARED to be bumped because they ALWAYS overbook. It's just the way they do things.
