| coachj's Full Review: Comerica Park |
If you are in the Detroit area and need something to do, why not check out a great game at Comerica Park. This is the new baseball stadium for the Detroit Tigers. If any of you read my epinion on Tiger’s Stadium I was a little sad that they got rid of the park, but now that I have been to the new stadium I am a little less sad. I still miss the old park, but the new one definitely has some great things to it.
Reasons why I like the new park:
1. Seating. If you are a fan of sports then you can’t get any better seating then here. Almost anywhere you sit you feel like you are in the first row. I walked around the park and the view is great from every angle. Even in the last row you can see the whole thing and you feel like you are a lot closer then you really are.
2. The extras. This park has a lot to see even if you don’t like baseball. It has a tiger carousel. This is really nice. It was really fun to see the happy faces of little and big kids on the ride. The hall of fame players statues. These are pretty nice. They look as if they are in action. Under the statues they have the facts of the players. When they played, their averages, nicknames, etc. They are a really nice touch. The scoreboard. This thing is huge. It is the largest scoreboard in use and boy can you tell. It keeps you up to date on other scores and does not take away from the game you are watching. The only thing that I didn’t like about the board was that it didn’t show that many replays. If they showed more it would have been prefect. On top of the scoreboard they have water fireworks. These are really nice at night. They shot them up with colored lights. Very nice touch.
Things that I did not like:
1. Parking. Parking right out side the old park was one of its charms. This parking was horrible. If you want to park right out side it costs you 20 dollars. I don’t even want to imagine what it will be like when the new football field (Ford Field) is complete. The parking will be even worse. The bussing system that they have works pretty well, you just need to know were to go. I park outside the old park and it cost 11 dollars total for three of us. Five to park and two per person for the bus.
2. Price. Except for the Pepsi section which is a great deal, the rest of the park costs a lot of money. Tickets range from 20–60 dollars. The Pepsi section is 8 dollars plus a pop and either a hot dog or a piece of pizza. This is a really good deal for a family and the seats are pretty good. Add on the price of the carousel and parking and you can spend a lot of money.
3. Sound system. The system sucks. You can not hear anything and everything echoes. It was really bad. The announcers would say something but it all ran together. I had some friends who went to a concert there and said that you could hear better outside then in the park. I can understand why. I hope they can figure something out before next year.
In conclusion I like the new park. I am really glad that the tigers are finally winning and maybe next year if they fix the few small problems then I will concede and forget about my old beloved Tiger’s Stadium.
