I used to go to Wendy's a lot in Black Mountain, NC, where I live. I used to love the "fresh" taste of the hamburgers I would get from them. However, all that ended when I ate a burger that absolutely turned my stomach inside out.
A friend and I decided to go out for lunch one night while we were at work. We both decided Wendy's was a good place to go since it is close to the job and they have good food. She ordered a chicken sandwich and I order a bacon cheeseburger. The food tasted fine and I did not think anything was wrong with what I was eating.
A few hours after eating the burger and I was back at work, my stomach started to ache like crazy. It was more than heartburn and gas pains. It ached so bad I was almost in tears. I decided to take some heartburn medicine out of the machine at work. That did not help.
I went home feeling like death warmed over at 2:30 in the morning, when I usually get off work. By 7:00 in the morning, things had become worse. My husband was getting ready for his job, when I had to push him out of the way to get to the toilet to throw-up. At about the same time the diarrhea hit me like a freight train. My husband was immediately concerned because he is a nursing assistant. He is trained to recognize certain symptoms so that he can inform the nurses he works with. My husband, asked me about what I ate the night before. I told him I had a hamburger from Wendy's. He then asked me about what time I ate it. I told him and he informed me that that was just enough time for food poisoning to hit my system. I was shocked!
The hamburger and a bowl of Corn Flakes I had for breakfast was the only thing I had eaten the day before. It had to be the Wendy's burger. Needless to say, I missed a day of work and felt horrible for two more days. My husband kept a check on me the whole time to be sure I did not need to go to the hospital. I was throwing-up which meant my body system was getting rid of the stuff that made me sick. So, it wasn't necessary to go to the hospital. I felt terrible the day I missed work. It took a while for me to eat anything that day.
I will never eat at another Wendy's again. That experience was too much for me. When I see a Wendy's sign, I get a tight uneasy feeling in my stomach.
