I do not consider myself a coffee person. I dont need or crave a cup of coffee in the morning. I can get by fine without a caffeine boost. But I do enjoy to meet up with friends over a cup of coffee
or tea
every now and then. My favorite place to grab a drink is Peets Coffee & Tea.
Coffee
For caffeine lovers everywhere, Peets is the place to get your caffeine kick. Their coffee is very, very strong. I never drink just a straight cup of coffee; it would be too much for me. If I do have a coffee drink at Peets, it is usually their mocha or their blended coffee drinks (Mocha Freddo and Vanilla Mocha Freddos are my favorites.) The prices are reasonable, compared to other coffee joints. A medium drink will run you about $2 3.50.
Tea
I love tea and I love the wide variety of teas available at Peets. There is a small tea display with the tea leaves in clear jars so you can see and sniff the different tea varieties before trying a cup. My favorite tea at Peets is the Jasmine Fancy. It is the perfect jasmine tea. You can order the tea by the pot (loose tea seeped in water) or just with a tea bag. The tea by the pot is slightly more expensive, but definitely worth the few extra cents. You can also purchase iced teas and their coolers (Jasmine Lime Coolers are delicious).
A wide variety of loose teas and tea bags is available for purchase and enjoyment at home. The loose teas come in little brown tins and the tea bags are available in standard tea bag box packaging. I usually keep a good supply of loose Jasmine Fancy at home (cost ~ $5.95/tin).
Coffee Beans
I recently purchased my first batch of fresh coffee beans. I wasnt sure which bean to get, so I asked the guy at the counter for some advice. He was very kind and described a few of their beans, giving me sample beans to sniff. I finally settled on Major Dickasons blend and am very pleased with my selection. The beans at Peets are roasted daily and are shipped within a day to the location, so the freshness is impeccable. I purchased my beans whole for the ultimate freshness. The beans do run a bit on the high end, so I only purchased half a pound. Half a pound of Major Dickasons blend will cost you about $6 but is well-worth the extra cost. Minor note: When you purchase coffee beans at Peet's, you get a free drink on the house!
If there is no Peet's near you, then check out your grocery store. I have seen Peet's coffee beans stocked at places such as Albertson's. Also, check out Cost Plus World Market as they also carry a wide selection of Peet's beans.
Peets Place
The Peets I frequent the most is located in Santana Row in San Jose. The people are pleasant and the service is superb. I always peruse the teapots and the unique Peets cups and travelers mugs that are displayed on the shelves. There are some darling little Beehouse teapots that are sold there. You can also purchase pastries such as muffins, scones, and cookies at the counter. I have not purchased any of these goodies for my waistlines sake.
Parting Thoughts
If youre looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee or tea and catch up with acquaintances, give Peets a visit! You will be sure to find a drink that fits your fancy!
