I am an experienced whiskey drinker, with tastes that include Scotch, Irish, bourbon and rye. When my local liquor store had a promotional special on Rare Breed, I picked up a bottle to give it a try.
My first taste of Rare Breed was a revelation. I did not know bourbon could taste that good. At the current batch strength of 108.5 proof, I was tempted to add water, but started neat in a snifter to get the full flavor. I never got to the water. Rare Breed is amazingly smooth and flavorful, with a refined finish that transports you to a finer world. If you are a whiskey sipper, you owe it to yourself to try a bottle.
Rare Breed is a barrel strength blended bourbon, with the batch blend printed on the neck band. As of early 2007, the batch is WT03RB. I may lay back a few bottles for the future, when the blend will change.
