| mtodde's Full Review: RCA BD20TF10 20 inch TV/DVD Combo TV |
I bought this TV five months ago for my bedroom. Most of the TVs I looked at did not have enough of a shelf on top to put a DVD player on and I didn't want to put the player under the TV so I looked at all in 1 units. At the time the Toshiba was $400 so the RCA was a pretty good deal @ $350.
It is a good unit and seems to be solidly built. The picture is very sharp and the screen resolution is quite good. The flat screen is not as crisp as some, but for what I paid it is good. There is very little glare even with strong lighting.
For normal TV watching and movies in bed this is a good TV. It is just the right size for my bedroom. With the audio out jacks I have connected it to my Bose Wave Radio/CD and get acceptable sound. I know it isn't my home theater, but I don't want that in bed.
The remote is okay, but I would like the ability to backlight - especially since I use it in the bedroom. A few keys glow in the dark, but until you learn the layout it is frustrating. Overall the remote is well laid out and easy to use.
I wish you could use the TV adjustments while watching DVDs - having to switch to TV mode to adjust color/picture, etc. and then going back to your DVD to see what happened is not acceptable. Most units today allow you to make separate adjustments in each mode.
Overall I am happy; I don't know if the Toshiba or Panasonic would have been worth the extra $50-$100 for a bedroom unit.
