| WRC123's Full Review: Sony SLV-N500 VHS VCR |
The SLV-N500 looked like a great product when I purchaced it at Circuit City. High-speed rewind, easily programable timers for later recording, commerical skip, and automatic head-cleaning attracted me to it.
However, there was one critical flaw- the remote continually "forgot" the model of my TV. Every 10 or so minutes I would have to re-enter the model number of my TV. Switch from "VCR" to "TV," hold "POWER" and enter 8 then release power. The unit would not remember this for more then 15 minutes! This VCR is totally useless for controlling a TV. If you don't mind using two remotes, that's great. But if you want to use Sony's remote, be prepared for trouble.
I find this flaw so irritating that I will, most likely, be returning the unit today.
