Pros: Best for price in 4 MP, clear pictures, a variety of settings
Cons: color saturation specially red is not good enough.
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you ready to work with it.

| fireangel1's Full Review: Samsung Digimax 430 (DBLDIGIMAX430) Battery Charge... |
I bought this as my first digital camera. I was leaning towards Fuji 310 initially and finally decided on samsung 430.
The Good:
This camera is capable of taking good quality pictures. Features like fill in flash, Scene modes, etc are very useful. The zoom is perfect. It starts using optical zoom and uses digital zoom after exhaustion of optical. You can clearly see ehich you are using and to what extent.
The camera can use awide variety of memory cards. My amateur status caused some my first few pics to be a bit off. But they have improved substantially and clearly ahead of regular average price cameras which I have used.
The Bad:
Color saturation is nowhere near optimal. Images could defintely be more saturated. That said there are features to improve this to some extent, like changing red green blue setting and exposure settings. I have not understood those perfectly yet.
The Ugly:
U really do need to use "Superfine compression" mode to get the best pics. you can go lower on the megapixels used , specially if you do not plan to blow up pics beyond 5 x 7 but use hioghest settings for compression. This will drastically cut the amount of pics you can take.
Overall: My pictures were as good or better than those taken with a Fuji 3800 which my friend had but only when i used 4 megapixel settings with highest compression. Its a very good camera for the price( $198 ) but not for those who want something extremely simple to work with. The auto settings are not always optimal.
