The two cameras use the same optics, so regardless the resolution, the performance is the same...

I knew about the 4MP vs. the 3MP but was interested in your comments re: optical quality (lens, etc.) vs. the MP race you referred to either in this review or the 580 review. That comment made some sense with me re: possible marketing gimmick a bit....kind of like horsepower with cars...it's more than just how much HP a car has.
Regarding price, I was able to get my 580 at 199 so price difference diminishes...may be able to get deals on 575 as well now, not sure.

These two are very similar, but the D-580 has higher resolution (4MP vs. 3.2MP in D-575) and costs more...

I wonder what your take is on which one is better. I'm sure "it depends" : ) on different users needs perhaps, nonetheless I'd thought I'd float the old comparo question....Great reviews by the way!
