| dlowe03's Full Review: Olympus Camedia C-8080 Wide Zoom Digital Camera |
I am going to be brief and not technical. Owned and operated this camera for about two months. The camera has a little weight ... but it feels great in your hand. It takes some of the best photos that I think you can get in this camera class. It definitely out performs the Sony 828 (a friend has it) and the Minolta A2 (I owned for a 3 weeks).
Colors in the 8080 looked truer and distortion was low although the zoom is smaller than all of the competition. I compared it for two weeks head to head with the A2 and it was no contest. It soon became necessary to will myself into picking up the A2 over the 8080. If I have to choose between picture quality and zoom .... duh .. quality. But should I have to choose.
The camera is an awesome performer with a few major cons. The pictures are to die for and make it impossible to give this photo marvel a low score even after having to take the first one back. Soon after I moved to a DSLR (Nikon D70) and the quality of the 8080 with the LD Glass Lens still haunts me. Olympus ... just make a few small tweaks and the competition can close shop in this class.
