jnoschese's Full Review: Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition for Xbox
I got this game for the xbox, and with most of the driving games for it, I am very impressed. If you enjoy customizing your cars, your in for a treat. With a large selection of cars, and Bikes with real licensed companies, you can trick out your cars to no extent.
The have a large selection of tuners, muscle cars, motorcycles, luxary sudans, trucks, SUVs, and exotics. Prices and performance of these vechicles seem to be real. You can run deuce deuce with lo lo's and drop your ride down to the ground and even add hydrolics if you like.
The game is very arcade like however and very competitive so it can be somewhat difficult. There are plenty of races and I'm well over 50% completed with this game and it seems like it's never going to end.
The graphics are beautiful, one of the best I've seen on the xbox and game play is really nice.
If your a car fanatic, this game is for you. Customizing my ride with Jesse James wheels is a treat, and purchasing an El Diablo is sweet as well.
Motorcycles in this game is much more difficult to ride as you have to use the B button to get your lean on, but crashing into the walls sends you over the handle bars in no time, so you can't be as heavy footed as you are in cars.
Damage wise, the game lacks as maybe I'm way too used to Burnout 3 and its superb damage psychics, but the game is definitely arcadic and better than most driving games I've played, even the NFS underground series.
There is not much story line, except for the ol "Your doing good esse" kinda stuff.
Winning certain races will give you free cars all dubbed out. You can also duplicate your cars so you can keep them stock and then mod up your own- A feature I enjoy because I can have different versions of my cars.
The money situtation is tough because sometimes you have to sell some of your rides to get rides that will actually let you win races. Driving around the city without going to a specific race is fairly boring because there's not much to do.
The music soundtrack is good, and doesn't get repetitive like NFS. There is a good mix of rock, rap, and trance that doesn't take out the razor blades like NFS Underground, and the large assortment of cars keeps me hooked unlike NFS (I don't japanese imports and most exotics).
A downside is that, before a race, they give you different camera angles of your car and the race start line, but its way to short, the graphics are so stunning that I really like to look at my customized ride, and its just a little too short, for some reason, I never skip this while your able to do so, I generally watch it and doesn't seem to get old.
This game reminds me of Test Drive 1 (PC version) on steroids with GTA driving design built in to it. It's what I've needed for a long time in a driving game.
