My old Hewlett Packard with new cartridges refused to print. While trying to decide whether it was the printer or the cartridges I checked the prices of some new printers. Found this Lexmark X1185 on the internet for $39. For that price I couldn't replace the cartridges on the old printer. Epinions reviews were good and the local store had one in stock at the same price. I figured I had nothing to lose. We've been very pleased with the print quality. The speed for B& W is great. For photos it is v e r y slow. The printer and software were very easy to install. The software is flexible very user friendly and has me looking for excuses to print, scan, or copy something. It lets you pick the project you want to do then walks you through it step by step. You can choose quick print to save ink and print color in b&w if you want to save your color cartridge. If and when it expires or doesn't produce a quality product, we'll just go this disposable route again. It comes with b&w and color ink cartridges but not the USB cable. Don't forget the cable if you are currently using a printer port.
