Pros: Plays VHS tapes, looks nice next to my other units, it has a VHS feature?
Cons: Doesn't play or record DVD's after first week. Paid $324.00 too much for a VCR.
The Bottom Line: This unit will not work as described. It's basically for me, an average end VHS player. Avoid at all cost!

I've learned my lesson. I purchased an electronic device without reading reviews first. Never again will I do that.
Long story short. I saw this item one late night on one of the home shopping channels and after seeing its functions and uses; I just had to have one. Plus, I've never had any problem with the establishment that I purchased from.
I have a large VHS collection that are just dying to be on DVD, so this would be a great investment, or so I thought. I initially purchased the unit Feb 09, 2005.
So, just what does this unit do correctly. Other than play VHS tapes, pretty much nothing else. My unit worked fine the first week I owned it and everything went downhill. My unit WILL NOT read any DVD. The unit seems to be searching. OK, it will not play DVD R, DVD RW or regular DVD's.
When trying to record from the VHS to the DVD, it goes through all of the motions and one would think that an actual recording is taking place until you remove the DVD R and notice that it's still EMPTY!
Let’s see, my unit will not turn off with the face buttons. I usually have to unplug the unit. I called customer service and they we're quick to tell me about a $90.00 restocking fee. Also, I guess there were "upgrade" disc provided that no one told me about. Nevertheless, I received the "upgrade" disc yesterday (7/23/05) and the damn thing still doesn't work.
I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that this is a lost cause and a wasted $349.99. I'm already looking at other units and looking at other user reviews. Stay away not only from this particular model, but this company as a whole if you don't want to be disappointed.
