| salm10's Full Review: Frigidaire GLTF1670A Front Load Washer |
We bought this model 2 years ago. After 1 year, it developed a leak which was repaired by tightening some screws and paying $75 for a repair visit. After 18 months, the solid state drive board died, which was replaced under warranty, although it cost us $90 for a "diagnostic charge" by the authorized repair dealer. After two years, the leak came back, and this time I took the thing apart myself to find out what was going on. It turns out the clothes drum sits in plastic case (why plastic???) that is consists of two halves that is bolted together. This joint is the cause of the leak and requires a complete disassembly of the machine to repair. BAD DESIGN!! For the labor rates that the dealers get around here, its not worth it to fix, so after 2 years and $699 purchase price plus about $150 in repairs, it goes in the garbage. From now on I'm buying $300 cheapo washers. If they break, I'll throw them out and get another.
