faithdean's Full Review: Cuisinart CPT-180 Metal Classic 4-Slice Toaster
My husband and I got this toaster for a wedding gift 3 and half years ago. Maybe I'm naive to think that a toaster should last more than 3 and a half years since we didn't even use it every day, but then again, why am I surprised since almost everything is made in China these days?
Anyway, this toaster is really pretty - I wanted all stainless steel products in my kitchen because I wanted everything to match. It's sleek and smooth - easy to operate and isn't so ugly that you can't leave it on the counter when it's not in use.
Cons:
-The stainless steel on this toaster is nearly impossible to make spotless. After only one week of shine, I've been battling water spots and smudges ever since.
-Crumb trays? Someone should write a definition for what this actually means and put it in the dictionary so we all know what a sufficient crumb tray really is. I assure you, this model does not have them. Not only are they about 1/16" of an inch deep (which means ONE everything bagel will overload it) but they don't come out easily, clean easily, or catch all the crumbs. Need I say more?
-Extra wide? This too needs to be described or have some sort of standard applied to it because I can barely get a full-sized hamburger bun into this puppy, and longer french bread or toast? Forget it!
-Uneven cooking - the edges of my daughters' waffles will be burned while the center is still frozen. Even with cleaning it each time, this seems to be a problem, so to me that says it's faulty design.
-And finally, what brings me to writing this review in the first place - my toaster is pretty much dead. It barely cooks in one of the toast trays and the other side doesn't even pop down anymore. Too bad because with a name like Cuisinart, I was hoping to get some serious mileage out of the toaster.
