Pros: Small profile fits easily in smaller cars and on air planes.
Cons: Seat belt slides are difficult to use.
The Bottom Line: The narrow profile makes this an ideal choice for families with multiple children in car seats and smaller cars. This is also a great choice for using on air planes.

| sofarsogood's Full Review: Graco Ultra Cargo 8488L Booster Car Seat |
The Graco Ultra CarGo Booster Car Seat offers a five point harness forward facing carseat and belt positioning booster with a narrow profile. This seat is the ideal choice for families with multiple seats (or children) in the backseat of a smaller car.
Seat Design:
The Ultra Cargo is standard in appearance. Booster car seats do not offer a great deal of extra padding as is found on standard car seats. The plastic shell is molded with high sides and a curved back with deep insets at the side for use as a belt positioning booster. This booster car seat does not have arm rests. In exchange, it is only 16 1/2 inches wide. According to United airlines this will fit in a Boeing 737 (coach seats are 17 inches wide from arm rest to arm rest) and on an Airbus 350 (coach seats are 18 inches wide. The five point harness (the My CarGo seat does not have the five point harness) has a two piece chest clip that detaches by pressing in two places. The buckle has a single button, but the inserts can be put in one at a time. The straps can be tightened or loosened by pulling the strap on the front of the seat. (The Graco Treasured CarGo and the CarGo can only be loosened and tightened by removing the seat.) The entry of the straps through the padded liner is not plastic reinforced.
Installation:
Installation was unremarkable. The 8488L does come with the LATCH system. We installed two of these booster car seats in a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager--one in the middle seat and one in the back seat. The seat forms about a 90 degree angle from the back to the seat. The Voyager seat is more acute. Using a locking clip and pressing down very hard, it took two people to get the seat in securely. We twisted the buckle in the rear seat to pull the latch plate of the seat belt down away from the belt path of the seat in the third seat to make the seat sit up straight. We also installed this seat in the back seat of a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim with a rear facing convertible seat and another booster seat. IT FIT!!!!
Use:
Using the seat is also unremarkable. The straps do twist from time to time as do most car seat straps. The tightening mechanism is a great asset in keeping a secure fit. I am pleased with the lack of plastic reinforcement around the belt entry. We also have a Century Breverra booster, which has been uncomfortable due to the plastic reinforcement next to our childs ears.
This car seat is recommended for use with the five-point harness from 20 to 40 pounds and from 30 to 80 pounds as a belt positioning booster. The FAA approves this seat for use on air planes only with the five point harness.
