| datamail's Full Review: Bosch SHU66C05 Stainless Steel 24 in. Built-in Dis... |
I did lots of research trying to find the best dishwasher- meaning the one that cleaned dishes the best. This one was rated number one in consumer reports-who use baked on brownie to rate how clean machines get dishes, Bosch of course claims to make dishwashers that work incredibly well, and people seemed to be pleased with it. Right off the bat mine was a lemon; it needed a new pump put in to work, and then a new soap dispenser. I can't even count the number of hours I spent on the phone with Bosch, trying to get them to help me. The pump was on back order, and even though they could have gotten it from a different source, they refused to. I therefore went about three weeks without being able to use my brand new dishwasher that I paid close to $1000 for. This, of course, did not concern them in the least. Finally about a month later the dishwasher is functioning, but not getting my dishes clean. I think that there must still be a problem, and have them send their repair man out, again. He informs me that no, there is no problem with the dishwasher. It is working fine. In order for the dishwasher to function I have to rinse clean all dishes, and then leave a space between them (IE the plates can only go in every other slot). Only then will the dishwasher work.
The dishwasher has a stainless steal interior which makes it very durable. It is very quiet when it is running. It has adjustable tongs inside, although I have never used them. There are two racks on the top to hold wine glasses, but they are strangely configured, and the only way I have found them to work makes it so you cannot put anything else in that whole area- i.e. if you put in 4 wine glasses that takes up the entire right half of the top rack which is also the only area that has tongs to hold drinking glasses.
It has 6 different cycles ranging from rinse and hold to quick wash to heavy duty. I have noticed no difference between heavy duty and regular wash since on either cycle the dishes have to be rinsed clean anyway. Heavy duty takes more time and uses more water and energy though. Additionally there is a setting for top rack only which is useful to me because often I have more glasses, small bowls and plastic items that can only be washed on the top rack than plates and other larger items. However that cycle is only about 20 mn less than the normal cycle. It seems very wasteful to me to run a dishwasher for over an hour just to wash the top rack, so I don't use this feature very often.
In general I am left wondering what I spent so much money on while I rinse clean every single dish that I load into my dishwasher. Further, after the experience I had with Bosch's customer service I will NEVER buy another product from them, and highly discourage others from doing so.
