Product Rating:
Pros: I suppose naked women would be a pro for some people.
Cons: Not erotic and not yoga, low budget, boring. There is nothing sexy about this DVD.
The Bottom Line: An attempt to cash in on yoga's popularity, this DVD is not a yoga workout and is not erotic. It's just nudity and not even sexy nudity!
Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
Let me preface this review by saying this DVD was somewhat of a gag gift from a friend who said I have every workout video/DVD that has been made bar one and this one completed my collection. Granted, I do have a load of workout videos and DVDs but there are many others I would have preferred. Still, I am open to new ideas and yoga is erotic in a way, and it was free, so I decided to see just what this Nude Erotic Yoga workout was all about.
The Technical Stuff
This is a 60 minute non-rated DVD. It features interactive menus and scene access, meaning you can skip to your favorite scene and not sit through the ones that bore you. Unfortunately, my favorite scene was the credits at the end because it was finally over! This 2003 release features people I dont know and probably never will see again. There are several women in this DVD, all of them nude.
The official description of this workout is as follows: Description for Erotic Nude Yoga DVD
Yoga for the erotic enthusiast. Beautiful professionals take it all off and display a sensuality that is not often found in this time-honored and spiritual craft.
They dont say what these women are professionals at, however. Yoga certainly isnt their area of expertise and neither is voicing over scenes. Perhaps they have other assets besides lots of silicone that I missed.
The back of the DVD case says the workout will help users climb to new heights of rapture, make us tingle with erotic vibrations, and allow us to frolic in the waves of passion.
The Workout
This isnt a workout. This is a series of scenes of different women claiming to be goddesses of things like water, fire, nature, whatever. The DVD starts out with male voice telling us to indulge ourselves and let loose with the goddesses of sex and love. He never mentions yogas part in all of this.
We see a woman emerge from an ocean, nude, of course, and the actual workout begins. We are told that we will learn the secrets to more powerful lovemaking with erotic nude fantasy. Again, not a word about yoga. At this point, I realized that yoga was just a cover for naked women posing in suggestive ways.
Each woman spends considerable amounts of time breathlessly voicing over who she is, what type of goddess she is, and what her duties are. I dont know what this has to do with yoga, but it is a good excuse to show these women in nature-like settings or, in some cases, blatant blue-screened settings with a fake background behind them. The camera closes up on their eyes, lips, nipples, navels, and genitals as the women speak. These women are not beautiful but certainly not ugly. They have nice bodies with big, round silicone enhanced breasts. Some have jewelry and other adornments on and all crawl, slither, and wiggle around in what is supposed to be an erotic state.
After a woman explains her goddess duties, there is a series of yoga postures presented. They do the postures only once and dont focus on form. The camera is often on body parts rather than showing what the move actually is. Clearly, this isnt intended for anyone to really follow along with. Its just an excuse to show naked women in compromising positions. There are over 30 postures presented, with each one given about 30 seconds to be performed by the viewer. The focus is not on teaching the posture but on the woman doing it on the DVD and making sure the camera is positioned on her breasts and genitals.
While not an X-rated type of graphic, the scenes certainly are not at all for those under 18 years old and leave nothing to the imagination.
I wouldnt have been all that disappointed if this were at least erotic. But it isnt! The women look over made up and try way too hard to look sultry and sexy while trying to look like they know how to do yoga. The settings are cheesy and many are downright unrealistic with obvious fakery in the background rather than real settings (I assume this is to keep the cost of the DVD down). The voiceovers are so exaggerated with what is supposed to be an erotic tone, that it is laughable.
This DVD is one hour of gratuitous nudity for nuditys sake and not even sexy, erotic, or stimulating nudity. If a man were to pick this up for the sake of seeing nude women, I think he would be disappointed because these women arent all that erotic and the DVD drags so badly that even naked women can be boring when forced to try to look and act like something they arent.
Yoga enthusiasts will simply laugh at the poses and the fact that each one is done only once with very little explanation of form or what the pose is for. In fact, I didnt recognize many of the postures and I do yoga regularly. I am not sure if some of the names of the postures were made up for this DVD or I missed a load of postures over the years but they sure had strange names.
At the end of the DVD, there are a series of aerobic yoga postures which are not aerobic at all. They are more like stretches and balance type moves. I believe there are just five or six of these and they are not taught, but rather shown as the breathy voiceover continues about letting yourself go and releasing your inner frustrations.
And that, my friends, is the workout.
The Bottom Line
There is simply no niche for this DVD. It isnt an exercise workout. It isnt really softcore porn. It isnt stimulating. I asked my husband to view part of the DVD and he agreed (and not just because were married) that the DVD was boring and he felt the models were not especially attractive and definitely not erotic.
If you want a good yoga workout, there are so many on the market today. If you want something erotic, again, the choices are nearly unlimited. This DVD is neither and tries to be both. Dont waste your money on this one.
