I really don't see why it got such horrible reviews. It wasn't completly original, but really, very few movies are anymore. But it was very good.
I do think that the timing of the release didn't help matters for the movie either. Maybe if would have gotten more attention and some praise if everyone hadn't be in Harry Potter mode then.
