Opinion Summary
"Up there . . .Up there!" is THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE!

Pros: The Greatest of All Treasure Hunt Movies.
Cons: A few abrupt cuts. I agree with my colleagues: See it in black and white.

Yes, Stephen, you are right all around. In fact, Huston's screenplay is more consistent and unified than his direction -- but creditable in both efforts. And Bobby Blake, going on trial now for the murder of Bonnie Lee Bakley Blake, was the lad who sold Fred C. Dobbs the fateful lottery ticket.

Citing your inspiration, I have added a couple of footnotes to the review on the Blake matter. Anyone interested in the case, might want to read the following review:

Judy Stone originally had a theory that Traven was the illegitimate son of Kaiser William II of Germany, but, according to someone close to her, she subsequently decided that the story was another of Torsvan's subterfuges. She comes to conclusions pretty close to mine.

Thank you for the valuable information, as always.

John Huston won two Oscars for TSM: directing and screenplay, and the determined lottery ticket seller was little Bobby Blake now beginning a trial for murder in Tinseltown.

I remember owning (and reading) a book by former SF CHRONICLE film critic Judy Stone on B. Traven but don't remember what she sorted out about his past.

Thank you, breezeboy. The two were similar in style and looks, but that is Walter Huston, not Walter Brennan, doing the little dance. You have reminded me of an additional detail, which I will add now to the review.

Thank you again for that, and the praise.

Now I know why you are an expert reviewer. I particularly liked Walter Brennan's little dance.
