All my friends think I'm stupid for having this movie... and then I force them to watch it. One of the greatest movies of the 80s and great to see a great review on it.

I couldn't have written anything better myself, but that's because I'm dumb. Anyway, man, didn't know you to be the John Hughes fan. Rock on, David, rock on.

Take care,
Terry

But I'm afraid I don't agree with your overall five-star rating of this film. I know this film is very popular, but a number of folks have told me they agree with my assessment that this isn't a "great" film (see my Epinion, if you haven't already).

I will say, however, that I hadn't considered that the character played by Hall might be gay. I would have to watch the film again to see if I agree with you, which is not going to happen.

I do agree with you that Molly Ringwald and others give good performances, but that's not uncommon in many sub-par films.

Take care,

Bill

We had a few classes just on this movie when I was in college for Audio-Video. Amazing how it is virtually one set. Great write up as usual and thanks for bringing back the warm 'teen' memories.

You bestow brilliance
: )

Sorry- I had a fake feeling I was Lord of the Rings.

You know, this was our class film in college. Though, personally, I voted for Better Off Dead, which is probably my favorite 80's film and comedy of all time. But I still love The Breakfast Club. Excellent and extremely thorough review...

Good review, David! (Reply to this comment)

What I thought was intersting was what the janitor said. He was a rather smart guy, even though his job wasn't a skilled one. When Vernon and him were in the office talking about kids, Vernon goes on with the usual old fart tirade of how the new generation is troublesome.

The janitor says, "Vern, the kids haven't changed. You have. If you were 16, what would you think of you?"

Vernon says, "Do you think I give a rat's a$$ what these kids think?"

To which the janitor calmly says, "Yes I do."

Good review. I remember when I was a teenager. This movie I could really relate to. The kids all realized that even though they all have different cliches, they all have the same problems."

Good to know you'll be joining us, Mr. Stockstad <G>. Seriously, though, I don't mind if you're late. Just send me the link when it's ready.

God, I love this film. Good review too!

Just to let you know, I'm running behind, but I will not be blowing off this write-off! I'm planning on posting tomorrow after work.

My apologies for holding up the show, but I too saved my writing till the last possible second, and unfortunately didn't really plan on how crazy my weekend ended up becoming. (Can we ever really plan on that anyway?)

Tipping my hat to the Widowmaker, Ryan.

It's been a long time since I've seen this one. Definitely one of my favorite 'feel good' movies of all time. Thanks for the flashback,

Hi David:
I hope some of the other write-off participants made the deadline. "The Breakfast Club" is still my favorite John Hughes movie. I have heard it said - and there may be some truth to it - that he had a computer that was filled with every possible plot. He is alleged to have just gone to his computer, picked the story elements he liked, and put them into his screenplay. After this movie, Hughes repeated himself until people lost interest. Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Pat
