"Hud" is the Paul Newman character's name in Martin Ritt's film.

Many people like the twaddle of "Being There" (and "Forrest Gump"). Not me!

Hollywood can take a break! (Reply to this comment)

This is a great film; it's on my Top 10 list. I'd like to see Hollywood take a break for a year, distribute the money they save on actor and actress salaries to good causes, and instead of making new films, just re-release the best films from the past 50 years.

...would be able to make this a delightfully perfect fit!

Hey, so you learned: [I quote you] "If I learned anything from Chauncy, I learned to be agreeable, gracious and not say too much unless asked a question!"
One of my first (and most valuable, as well as effective) lessons on LIFE. :)

Sorry I'm just getting back to this review! Looked for it the day I submitted mine, but wasn't here and this is the longest I've had to do the most in a month! Please accept my apologies, my little friend.

Now, I'm off to try catching up on some more of your many reviews (why you're TOP Reviewer in Movies, huh?!) while I can. Take care,

Rouchelle

Thanks, Barbara. My computer seems to be fixed now after settings were reset and saved. What a relief! Hope your problems are over, too.

I was sooo surprised at how much I loved the movie. Depth in simplicity. Chauncey Gardner should be a household name. What a character. What a movie.
This was a very enjoyable review.
Thanks,
Gary

This is a perfect film! I watch it often with friends and when alone. The gardening tie-in is great. VH!

This is one of my absolutely favorite all time movies....I can't even count how amny times I have seen it and now after reading your review, I want to see it again..:)

Hope your computer behaves..I just had a horrible computer experience and had to replace my brand new one, (Thankfully still under warrenty) but I lost everything on my harddrive......I'm still playing catch up loading programs and mourning the picture files I lost...

Take care and thanks for reminding me about this classic movie

I remember... (Reply to this comment)

...how much I hated this movie when it first came out. My friend and I were on an adventure. We journeyed to a big city quite far from our homes and had a big day in the city. We decided to catch a movie, and having been huge Pink Panther fans, we elected to see this movie, which was anything BUT slapstick.

I have not seen it since, but I have seen scenes from it, and am sure I would appreciate it much differently now.

Glad you took the time to review it!

Thanks for participating in the write-off and your movie's tie-in was great (the gardener) and (the Biltmore House)... which is only 30 minutes from me:)... Sorry your computer was 'buggy'!!! Lots of smiles and thanks & Have a Happy Day, etc. etc. etc...

this sounds vaguely familiar, I might have caught part of it one time, but I'm intrigued enough to look it up again.

Thanks
