chaibliss's Full Review: Black & Blue by Backstreet Boys
The "Black and Blue" title refers to the unfair treatment the Backstreet Boys feel they've been subjected to by the media; aptly, they've been beaten down. The fact that they are considered a "boyband" goes against them, but the fact that their music rises above the grain and shows off their talent works remarkably in their favor.
With fast moving, salsa-influenced tunes like "The Call" and "Get Another Boyfriend" keeping the first half of the album alive, Black and Blue promises nothing but pure, lighthearted, not quite sugarcoated pop music. Certainly, there is more here than the superfluous mentions of "girl I need you" and "girl take my hand," to name just a few gems that utter from the mouths of most of these boyband babes. One is easily able to appreciate the fact that these five young men are capable of far more than they are given credit for.
The album bears a certain similarity to the Boys' previous effort, Millennium, and this is a deterrent that most fans will be able to easily overlook. If solid, fun music is what you're after, Black and Blue easily holds its own.
The Backstreet Boys have an unsurpassed track record, having received the Diamond Award for both their two album releases BACKSTREET BOYS and MILLENNI...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
