JiggyJay's Full Review: The Riddle Box by Insane Clown Posse
Riddlebox is a great CD probably because it was the most underestimated. It got bad publicity for some reason and not that many people that Ive talked to like it. Whenever I go into a chat room and spark a conversation with someone, they always say that they dislike this album and say that its the worst Jokers Card, but I dont know why. I thought that maybe it wasnt advertised enough or just maybe ICP just didnt spend enough time on it as they did with rest of the recordsuntil I bought it and now I really have no clue why people dislike it.
Whyd ya buy it, Juggalo?
Well, I bought the CD mainly because I had listened to the incredible Bizarre duo (Bizaar and Bizzar) and to The Great Milenko. When I read all of Dbbums rittle more violence behind them, but Violent J seems to make me laugh more and his voice is just more pleasing with each earful. They are a rap group, but their music sounds a lot like rock and thats the reason why I like them a lot. They have virtually done everything in the book like wrestled in the WCW/WWF (or whatever theyre called now), theyve made a movie (Big Money Hustlas), theyve released countless great albums, and theyve begun a record label. They have achieved a lot in their 10 or more years in the business and I admire them beyond belief.
Why did you put violent and sexual themes under the cons???
They are very well known for their lyrics about sex and violence, but to tell you the truth, I think that is where they are at the weakest. I really dont like when musicians cuss unless its necessary or to prove a point. ICP overuses most of the cuss words and it does annoy me. And I also know that a lot of parents will be angered at what they say in their songs. Their range of lyrics goes to necrophilia to raping woman and killing them to cutting off a teachers head to just about anything else sick that your mind can think of. This turns a lot of people on, but for me, its the bands biggest faulty.
So what do you like about the record?
Something that Ive really enjoyed about ICP through these many awesome weeks of listening to them is the ingenious lyrics that they come up with. They are unique and they are much different from other rap. Instead of rapping every two words, they rap every line. Its hard to explain but also they have incredible choruses that really are ear-catchers and you will literally love them after listening to some key songs like Pass Me By (from The Great Milenko), Mr. Johnsons Head (from Ringmaster), or even Guts on the Ceiling (from Carnival of Carnage).
Anything else before you get to the songs, you plagiarizer of Dbbum?
Listen, you, I have never plagiarized anything from Dbbum (except for bits and pieces of his reviews whoops I shouldnt have said that ) and yes, I do, have something to say, you little cretin. This Jokers Card differs from the rest of the series because of the roughness that it has. It has a savage flavor that makes the CD hard to handle at first, but once you tackle it down, you will learn that it is glamorous. And if no, I was just kidding, I do not plagiarize anything from Dbbum only from Rock_On. Jeez, I do have CLASS you know

What are your favorite songs?
I personally like Cemetery Girl and The Jokers Wild but I am also fond of Toy Box. The Jokers Wild is sort of like The Neden Game (from The Great Milenko) and The Shaggy Show (from The Amazing Jeckel Brothers. Its ICPs version of a late night program and it is hilarious and I laugh at it every time I listen to it. Toy Box is probably the CDs title theme and it does the whole album justice with great beats and a very good overall melody with the lyrics being really clever and eerily hysteric. Cemetery Girl is the necrophiliacs anthem. It begins with Violent J cleaning out the closet to a doctor (Shaggy) about how he just loves this dead girl. The lyrics are very disturbing about a man loving and screwing a dead woman, but they are also very funny and will make anyone laugh.
Make your closing statements and make em quick, you dork!
Okay, I think I said this in my Carnival of Carnage review and I think that I should probably say this again: something that just annoys me about all the ICP CDs is that the track listings on the back of each album are false and arent in the correct order. This annoys me very much, but besides that, this is a very memorable CD and one that any ICP should listen to mainly because its the third Jokers Card and because its really good. I think you can buy this for about 15 bucks and I have to tell you that it is really worth it. Thanks a lot for reading and check out the other Jokers Cards. Read my other ICP Jokers Card reviews and read Dbbums reviews on all of them (since they were the ones who turned me onto ICP in the first place).
