You neglected to . . . (Reply to this comment)
by gungian
. . . mention that ole holiday favorite "I Saw Sister Carving Her Initials In My Desk"
[Sung to the tune of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus".]
I believe the artist grew up to be a traveling nurse.
[After your most recent visit, I checked my roll top desk for carvings. Fortunately, I didn't find any!]

Well she became a traveling nurse because it was obvious she was never going to make it as an artist. Though I have to admit that was one of my finest pieces. Along with it came a priceless treasure, fond memories
Thanks for so many.
Love ya

Wonderful review..... (Reply to this comment)
by kamel622
...of a wonderful album...ummmm CD, sheesh my age is showing. I have this in a cassette, and love hearing Andy Williams singing some of my favorite Christmas songs.
My Prayers will be with you as you go through this first Christmas without your Mom. When I hear Silver Bells I'll say a little prayer for you. I cried as I read that paragraph, for I definitely know the sadness of missing our Moms. I can't hear Amazing Grace without totally breaking down. This will be my third Christmas without my Mom...and I still miss her so much, but I do believe that the first one was the most difficult.
Thank you for writing reviews of wonderful music that bring wonderful memories...kath

Kath, thank you for your kind comment and your prayers one can never get enough of that. Yes, it will be a difficult Christmas but memories will help ease the difficulty, and sharing time with those whose love remains constant will be yet another blessing bestowed upon me. Now too when I hear Amazing Grace I will silently send a healing prayer your way.

Loved the tributes to your mother, brother and son. That is what Christmas means family and the joy of memories.

I appreciate the sweet comment, and yes you are right, that's what the holidays are for...... memories, and each year it seems I have more and more, and less actuality. The best to you and yours also.

Thank God for our memories, this is my third without my Mom and it's as if it were only yesterday. :( But, it's those memories that will ease the way a little. I'll keep you in my prayers. And as far as those rosy cheeks, I have to tell you, I also like mine rosy from being indoors by a fire or sitting on a comfy chair. lol. I'm too old now to get "out" there and still be able to have flexible joints after a half hour in the darn freezing cold. lol
Love your cd reviews, like Kathy, I have the cassette. But hey, who cares, still plays the same songs. :)

Thank God for our memories. It's three years without my Mom and it's still like it was yesterday. I'll keep you in my prayers. Believe it or not, those very memories will help ease the way this holiday season. :)
As for rosy cheeks, well, I too would rather they come from sitting near a nice toasty fire because these days after a half hour of being in the freakin, freezing cold, my joints are no longer as flexible. lol
Love your cd reviews. God Bless !

Carol, I hear you loud and clear on that cold and those joints (ouch) And you right again the cassette plays the same songs, I actually have the cassette also for the car. Ah memories what would we do without them? Thanks ever so much for the read and comment. I love doing these music reviews, I can get lost in any place I choose, :)

Pondering this one over (Reply to this comment)
by susidee34
I grow more disgruntled with Christmas each year. You know how that UPS Christmas commercial in September almost through me over the edge. SEPTEMBER! posh!
While I'm familiar with most of these songs, I was surprised Little Drummer Boy wasn't there, especially since I think he recorded it. However, my favorite is surprisingly My Favorite Things.
A great review, great songs, great singer.
Thanks
Susi
p.s. Man, say something loving about a brother and STILL he beats you up - wow!

Andy Williams is the bomb! (Reply to this comment)

He's not just a second-rate holiday Bing. Great review, although I have to disagree with you on one point. If I hear "Do You Hear What I Hear?" one more time, I'm going to go catatonic.
I know it's after the fact, but I'm a bit of a holiday curmudgeon, too. You may enjoy my lyrics to be sung to Jingle Bells:
[chorus]
Dragging flesh, dragging flesh
Drag it through the snow
Tie it to the runner of our sleigh
Away we go!
Dragging flesh, dragging flesh
Hear it bounce and screech
By the time we're home
We will be dragging
Just the leash
[verse]
Remember Farmer Brown
He chased us off his tree
We said we would get back
And oh, ho, ho, did we!
We tied him to our sleigh
We told our horse to fly
They were finding parts of him
Right up until July!
[repeat chorus]
My dismemberment song always puts my holiday spirits in perspective. Happy post-holidays!

Sunny it is fantastic, but you are very early singing these songs, or a tab bit late (smile)
Thanks for the read and comment.
