| Melaney's Full Review: Yahoo Internet Life Magazine |
Being a subscriber to Yahoo Internet Life magazine is a plus in my book. Before I became a subscriber I actually had an ego to think that I was much more than just a novice at finding great internet sites.
Was I ever wrong!.....After reading just my first issue I felt almost silly, almost dumb. Why , you ask? Well mainly because the editors of this magazine were able to pack more websites and internet savy knowledge within it's menial 92 page limit than I had come across in my entire time on the net over the years, so far!!
I was pleasantly surprised if even my ego might have had to suffer a setback that there is so much to see on the internet and so many good sites just waiting for prodding eyes.
This magazine shows so much!! Apart from the websites that it lists, there are also articles on up and coming technology, gizmos and gadgets and even style. All catering to the dot. com population.
You get stories and examples are..People murdered on the internet and why. Webcam girls who make money but yet are underage to gangs in cyberspace. Hmmm...wow! I never knew this stuff was going on .
Ok, so maybe I knew a little but nothing as detailed as the accounts they give and the stories and information they jam into their articles.
My favorite about this magazine is the pull out magazine card in the middle of the magazine. It works like a reference card to every article in the magazine and also features extra sites to be found via the net like the 50 great , funny, useful, strange sites and more. It is jam packed with web addys to wet your appetite and it opens you up to a whole new world! Really!!
The lay out of the summary found before you begin reading is clear and concise giving you the features and the how -to section to the main "Department" section which is sub sectioned into:
Editors Note> letter from the editor
Message Center> letters TO the editor
Click!> This months festivals , gatherings etc..
Home & Office > Home Improvements webstyle
Style > just what it means...
Content > lots of mixed variety articles
Cool Tools > all those really great gadgets that are both
expensive and in expensive!
Pretty Strange> Self explanatory.
Also, the cool "Columns" section features people such as Roger Ebert and Angela Gunn.
Last but not least comes my favorite , the Web Guide!
This magazine although not very long in length features a great deal packed into a neat package to read and enjoy. As a subscriber it is delivered to my door every month. Its always on time and I really enjoy it.
I don't know what other magazine to compare it to but nevertheless if compared I'm sure it can hold it's weight on it's own against another magazine due to its uniqueness.
I highly recommend it for the avid web surfer and internet guru alike. It teaches a new dog new tricks and an old dog new ones also. lol*
Happy surfing* Gracias - Melaney*
