| mjromano's Full Review: Millenium Hilton |
I stayed in the Millenium Hilton with my girlfriend in October 2004. We stayed on a Saturday and a Sunday. We got a great rate from the Hilton web page. They had a web saver rate and in my opinion it was a steal ($250 a night with all taxes). During the week the rates hop up to around $400 a night or so.
When we arrived we were told that our room was not ready yet so we checked our bags and walked over to ground zero. After about a half hour we came back and everything was ready to go. The front desk staff was friendly.
The hotel's lobby was very impressive and modern! There was a very large automated revolving door at the entrance and it gave a futuristic feel to the hotel.
We stayed on the 47th floor. The elevator ride was VERY quick (we were up to the 47th floor in a few seconds.) The ride down was like a ride at an amusement park it was so quick.
When we arrived at our room it was small but increadibly nice. It had an excellent view of Ground Zero. I'm really glad we were able to see into where the World Trade center was because you can't see much from the street.
The room included an ironing board, hair dryer, in room safe, and AC/Heat controls. There was a high speed internet access port however we did not use it. We did use the internet through the TV however. That was nice but it was difficult to use without a mouse! It was reasonably priced at $10 a day.
The 42" plazma TV was a nice touch and the king size bed was the most comfortable bed I've EVER been in.
I would recommend you stay away from the mini bar (a 6 oz water was $4!). If you want beverages go down and buy a bunch from a street vendor.
We decided to have room service that first night and they were very prompt with our order (however it did cost over $100!) - this was from two New York Strip steaks and two 10oz cokes!
All in all.. the Millenium Hilton was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
