Cons: Their not-recommend reviews give pause.
The Bottom Line: Seemingly the best choice in an industry with many questionable players. We had a great experience and so did other Epinions reviewers. But some didn't.

Moving a car ought to be fairly straightforward, but after Web research it became clear that the auto transport industry is as riddled with fraud and incompetence as the moving industry. We settled on Express Auto Transport after checking checking out Epinions and the Better Business Bureau.
Our move couldn't have been smoother. After receiving a prompt estimate online ($1,095 for a Volkswagen Jetta), we faxed back a form sent to us by email, made a $195 credit card deposit and within two weeks to the day the car was picked up, transported from North Carolina to Washington State and delivered as promised. We paid the driver the balance of $900 (he accepted cash or bank check) upon delivery. He was courteous and business-like.
Because most transport companies broker with independent drivers, customers are subject to the luck of the draw as other Express Auto Transport Epinions seem to indicate. Our lowest bid ($895 was from Southerland, a company that should be avoided according to the BBB and Epinions reviews) and the next highest was from Trusty Auto Transport, a company with an insufficient track record in our research. The highest bids were $1395.
Proceed with caution if you need to have your car transported. Make sure your insurance company will cover any damage in shipping. There seem to be more charlatans than honest service providers out there and I'd much prefer to do the driving myself if at all possible. But if you must have your car shipped, Express Auto Transport seems to be a reasonable bet .
