blackelve's Full Review: Tomb Raider for PlayStation 1
Tomb Raider starring Laura Croft, a rich eccentric action character that likes to fight, jump and hunt.
Tomb Raider, a game that I have beat my head with till I could figure out how to use the correct buttons to make this action character do what I want her to do.
Actually, I really do like this game. It is much harder then I had figured. I thought, "Hey, I beat RE twice, this should be a piece of cake." Boy, was I wrong.
Laura Croft has more moves then I had figured. She can jump side to side, up and over things, and on top of things. She swims. (which took me a half hour figuring out how to do this) She can jump over very long passages. (embarrassed to admit the kid showed me how) And she can lean against the wall and creep along. (hey, this I did figure out within ten minutes...ok, by accident.)
There is over 15 levels you can play with this character. You must find different objects in each level to help you along in the next levels. There are certain objects you must avoid, wolves, bears, bats and flying arrows. Laura Croft starts out with two guns which she can run with as she shoots, a nice change of pace. An added plus is that she automatically aims at the closest object instead of the gamer trying to aim and run.
I have had this game for six months and I just recently was able to finish it. I have heard of people finishing this game within a week or two, how I will never know.
I had to use a cheat sheet which I found via the internet www.gamesfaq.com
If you are just starting out, may I recommend printing out the walk thru from the site mentioned above. It helps you with all the hidden treasures you need. Without it, I probably still be on level two and complaining.
I also liked this game because in the beginning before you play the actual game, you can go to her house and practice moves. This is a big plus when you pick a game where the characters have tons of moves. She guides you along as you learn during the practice mode. A helpful tool to use later in the game.

This is the first game in the series, I recommend playing this game before going into the higher game levels.
