Unfortunately, if we want to watch anything other than 2 or 3 network stations using an antennae, we HAVE to have Adelphia's Cable Service. We've lived in this area for about 6 years and having had experiences with other cable companies in the past, Adelphia is hands down the worst.
The slightest storm....just plain rain and perhaps a little bit of wind causes their service to go offline. Sometimes for more than just an hour or two, but for an entire day at a time. Honestly, I think that if you were to stand near one of their poles and blow really hard, you could knock out cable to the surrounding area. Its THAT bad. And when the cable DOES go out for any extended period of time they are SUPPOSED to issue you a credit to your bill. NOT! That is not unless you pick up the phone, speak to a customer service rep who will first try to make excuses as to why the cable is out, and finally once you have had it with their lame excuses, you must DEMAND a credit. Then sit and wait and if you are lucky, within 3 months they might give you the credit. They are more expensive then cable companies in surrounding areas and don't offer as many channels for the money. I pay $40 a month for basic cable and ONE HBO channel yet my brother just a few towns north pays $30 and gets over 100 channels AND 3 HBO channels!
I realize that the credit for a few hours of cable is not all that much but I demand it each and every time just out of spite! The pictures are often grainy and sometimes so bad that you just can't stand to watch it. Originally we thought it was the local stations doing that however even the cable stations are of horrible quality from time to time. For the amount of money we pay, I expect an LOT more than what they give. I have heard that we will soon have a choice for our cable provider and as soon as that day comes I will be saying goodbye to Adelphia cable forever! I would not use ANY Adelphia service ever again.
