| brashear's Full Review: JVC XV-501 DVD Player |
When I graduated from college, my parents got me a DVD player; This was it. It's been over a year, and I now own about 60 DVDs. I've also borrowed and rented a few more. I've not experienced the documented lockup problem, perhaps because my EEPROM is newer, perhaps just because I'm lucky. The remote is able to control my television, and is reasonable but not great.
The ability to play audio CDs has been useful a single time; It's not a multidisc changer, so it's not particularly useful unless you have mix CDs or know you'll only want to play a single disc.
For a standard consumer DVD player, assuming you get a good version of the EEPROM, this is a reasonable product. For someone who wants a heavy-duty home theater, you'll want a more whiz-bang model, but you probably already knew that.
