The Harman Kardon AVR 85 is the ideal centerpiece of any home theatre system. HK's high-current design brings out a richness and quality in sound I was unaware was even there, primarily because no other manufacturer in this price range offers such power. While this particular unit, is the creme de la creme of the HK line, a less feature rich HK receiver would suffice for tighter budgets, but if there is any way you can afford the extra price of a first class ticket, do not hesitate. This unit has every conceivable option you could possibly want.
Every input has a pre-amp out, making the unit infinitely expandable, and the multi-room feature allows you to set an amp and a component with speakers in any room of your house and still enjoy the superb clarity and DC-3 dolby of this unit.
It can handle all video units (including DVD, LD, and four other Video inputs). It would take days to list off all of the features of this extraordinary product, but what counts most is what it puts out.
With five speaker jacks (each putting out 85 watts) and a jack for a self powered subwoofer, you will discover a depth and power to music and movies you had no idea existed. Treat yourself to the best, and you will not regret it.
