Where I Bought It
I bought my Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player at Best Buy for much less than it’s listed on Epinions. After looking at all the DVD players and realizing I had a very small budget to spend on a DVD player I went with the Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player. The reason for this was it had all the bells and whistles that I thought I needed at the time. I don’t care for fancy electronics; I just want something that will work. This DVD player was perfect for my needs.
Would You Like It?
To me this is a rather simple machine and would be best for beginners. Possibly great for people who watch DVD’s occasionally and don’t have more than $200 to spend on a DVD player. If you are a DVD guru and want to make you DVD player to practically clean the house then this isn’t for you!
Setting Up
After getting him with my new Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player it didn’t take very long before I had a DVD playing. Simplicity is what I like in a machine and the fact that I only referred to the manual 2 or 3 times during the whole setup made me happy. Connecting my TV, VCR and DVD player all together was very simple. One thing that I don’t like is that my universal remote will work for the TV and VCR and the DVD player remote will work for the DVD player and the TV! So I have to keep 2 remotes handy to perform movie-watching tasks!
Oh Watch!
I was very tickled when I turned on my DVD player and see that it said “welcome” and later said “goodbye” when I turned it off. I know, little things amuse me!
Style
I love the looks of this Toshiba DVD player. It is just plain yet stylish and matches my black TV, VCR and TV stand.
Sound
The sound is crystal clear and even without surround sound speakers it sounds great. I can't believe how much better the sound is with DVD's than with VHS!
The Remote
Yes the remote is very important to me! I have small hands and I hate those huge remotes that you just cannot hang onto. I want to change channels, not lift weights! With the Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player has a medium sized remote that’s easy for me to grip. With the remote you can command your DVD player to do things like play, start or stop and pause. Then there is the forward/reverse scan where you can select how fast it goes (x2-really slow x8, and x30, which is very fast). But like I said before, this isn’t a universal remote and might not work with your TV and VCR.
Other playing features on the Toshiba SD1600 include DVD-Video Playback, picture zoom, Video CD playback, parental lock, time search, on-screen displays, selectable camera angle, selectable language, selectable title, and title stop

Warranty
It comes with a 90 day labor warranty and a one year parts warranty. I had the option of buying an extended warranty but to me if it lasts one year, it will probably last as long as I want it to.
Overall
I have been satisfied with this DVD player for a few months now. I see no decrease in its performance or quality as of today and seems its built to last. If you are one of the few who don’t have a DVD player yet, I recommend checking out the Toshiba SD1600 DVD Player.
Thanks for Reading and Happy August!
