| zaries46's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-SJ15 Personal CD Player |
So I was in the market for a discman that I could run with. I was sick of making tapes and putting it in my walkman. I was actually going to buy the D-ES51, the older model of this one, but before I made it to the store, this one replaced it.
The price tag is high, I bought it for $112 at Best Buy. Is it well worth it? Let me tell you about it and you can decide.
The discman itself it completely waterproof, so it won't hold you back during those rainy days. The AV adapter jack and the headphone jack have rubber plugs if you're not using them.
The discman comes with a strap on the backside, which I actually didn't know of until I opened up the package. This strap is awesome...it fits right in your hand when you run and is really comfortable.
G Protection
G protection is supposed to be the "newer" version of ESP (anti-skip protection). There's a switch to turn the G protection on and off in the discman by the laser.
WELL...
If you buy this discman, guess what? You don't NEED the G protection! Even if you leave it off, it's virtually unskippable. Exceptions: If the discman is violently shaking for 10-15 seconds it will start skipping with the G protection off. So when you go off road with your Mountain Bike, this might be a good time to use it.
So, why this discman?
Because since you don't have to use the G protection, the batteries last forever! Mine last a good 5-6 hours before they get low and the discman starts skipping. Those ESP discmans drain the battery very very quicky.
Like most discmans, this has a hold switch, bass booster button and a play mode button to shuffle/random play/set songs to play.
Cons:
There are no Audio fuctions besides the bass boost, so you're not going to have the treble/bass control. I really don't mind it, because when I'm running I don't really need all the fancy audio controls.
SO there it is. It's a little on the pricy side, but if you're a runner, this is definately the most practical discman to buy.
