| ann_bell's Full Review: Rio Rave MP2050 MP3 Player |
I was looking for a gift for my boyfriend, and what could be better for a hard core napster fan. I was clueless of the mp3 portable market and I am so glad I had epinions..So solely based on what I read about this product, I gave it a try and guess what, my boyfriend now raves about me,
and I rave about the RaveMP 2100.
RaveMp 2100 is the indeed the best mp3 player out there. It is light, 64 MB memory, Needs 1 AA battery. Lasts about 15 hours. The design is good and the shiny finish is cool. The software is easy to work with.
You can drag and drop your mp3s. This is not something you can easily find in an mp3 portable. The RaveMP also comes with cool Sennheiser headphones. I did read a lot about a certain "hiss" in the quality of music from these headphones but I have had no complaints so far. I found the quality was great. It was easy to setup for the computer.
And thats not all, you can use your Rave as a mini external disk drive. It can store anything from text files, voice recordings, downloadable music from a stereo, guitar or keyboard to phone nos. So its an external disk, dictaphone and electronic diary in an mp3 portable.
The flip side is that there is no USB port connection. You have to connect via a parallel/printer port, which makes it slower to download. But its not that bad..Each song can take from 15-30 seconds.
Also it only runs on Windows 9x series. I wish it could support NT or 2000 or any other OS. I am hoping future versions would support it.
I was confused a bit that it didnt have a power button. But this smart alec shuts off by itself. Stay away from RaveMP2000 though..and definitely dont vouch on the freebies you get when you register with emusic.
