I will never buy another Compaq product!

Pros: when it worked, it seemed to be a great product
Cons: poorly built ~ LOUSY customer support!!!!!
The Bottom Line: This product seemed to be decent ~ WHEN IT WORKED. HOWEVER, Support and Warranty are so poor, I would NOT suggest ANYONE buy this ~ or any other Compaq product!!

Before buying my MP3 player, I did quite a lot of research about MP3 Players and read MANY reviews. I came across a few reviews that complained of poor quality construction of their Compaq PA-1. Unfortunately, I ignored these because I thought Compaq was a better company than that. This was a BIG MISTAKE!!!!
When I received my Compaq PA-1, it communicated with my computer only sporadically for the first day. By day 2, it would not acknowledge the USB at all. I called Compaq support.
After a frustrating 15 minutes in a horribly annoying automated phone system only to be cut off, I was very frustrated by the time I finally got to a live technician. The true frustration had not yet begun, however!
The technician at Compaq support admitted that there seemed to be a problem with the USB connection on the player, and that he had heard of many players with this problem. He proceeded to inform me that I had to pay Federal Express to come and pick up my NEW, FAULTY mp3 player. I did not feel this could be correct, so I asked to be transferred to his supervisor. When the supervisor confirmed this for me, I was transferred to Customer Support, who again confirmed this information.
SO... I paid $250 for a product that never worked, and the manufacturer expects me to pay more money (I was given an estimate of $30 for shipping and insurance) in order to get this BRAND NEW product repaired.
If this is Compaq's idea of "Customer Service", rest assured that I will never again be a Compaq customer!
