| MisterE676's Full Review: Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2001 7.0 Full Version fo... |
This is a review of version 2.5 Norton Antivirus 2001. I've been a long time fan of Norton's security products, so this review may be a bit biased in that regard.
Norton Antivirus is needed by virtually anyone (see: everyone) who surfs the internet from their home or office computer. In this day and age, you can never be too safe from hackers and viruses, both of which are increasing exponentially in numbers.
This particular release of Norton contains the AntiVirus software, a personal firewall, and privacy control features, and is easily installed. The firewall is somewhat interactive, allowing you to select pre-determined settings or you can fully customize it to better suit your needs.
The AntiVirus is great, because it automatically updates itself with the newest detection/protection information as new viruses are uncovered on the world wide web.
One of the best features though, and one that is way underrated, is the privacy control. More than ever, websites that you visit are trying to collect personal data. The Privacy Control feature keeps that information being sent without you knowing about it and will also let you determine how your cookies are used... great stuff.
AntiVirus 2001 will check e-mail attachments, zip files, and downloads to help ease your mind in this world of viruses. Also, you know those annoying pop-up windows offering you things that you don't want? AntiVirus has a ad blocker that works on most sites, which is a feature I love, because I hate pop-up banner ads.
The LiveUpdate feature is another nice one. One year of free updates is included, and patches and virus information is automatically installed or you can choose to do so manually and the system will send you little reminders. After the year of free udpates are up, you can resubscribe to Symantec for further service.
