Pros: Great speeds, good tech support, stable connections, fair price.
Cons: It's cable and has limited up speeds.
The Bottom Line: Great service for the price. Zoom 500 was increased from 5 to 8mB/s with no price increase. So much better than DSL.

| tripforyou's Full Review: Armstrong Cable Services (PA) |
In my area the current zoom 500 line is running at just over 8MB/s down; that translates into download speeds maxing out at 1100Kb/s which is reasonably fast. If you're not happy dl'ing at a tad over one megabyte per second, then you better have hundreds to thousands of dollars a month for a T1 or better connection.
The connections are very stable in my area (N. of Pittsburgh, PA) although tech support is pretty worthless when there's a modem to router to WinXP issue (which routinely crashed for several days until I found an actual solution by increasing XP's maximum connections.) Most other aspects of their tech support are great. They have a quick response time, phone support is open late, and if in house service is needed I know it's usually same or next day... plus they're actually on time (as opposed to 'sometime between 9 and 4.') My parents have needed in home help a few times, I've only seen them when they initially installed the line.
The only downside I have seen is the same with any cable or DSL provider. That would be upload bandwidth. I can't UL over 75Kb/s, but that's still better than most cable and DSL providers.
