Over the years Hewlett Packard has made nothing less then high-quality products. With this series of CD writers they do not disappoint!
Speed
The 9200 series is no longer top of the line in the speed department, but it still offers a very good 32x read speed, 8x write speed and 4x re-write speed which is acceptable if you do not want to dish out an arm and a leg for a newer unit (which I don't recommend because they will become obsolete in 2 years anyway).
The unit also has a SCSI-2 interface. If your computer is not a SCSI standard interface they will require a seperate card. Buying a good one will require you to spend about $150. However, they are worth it. They do not hog as much CPU resources as an IDE drive.
Quality
The quality of this writer is unquestionably one of the best on the market. This unit will hardly ever corrupt a CD.
Software
The 9200 series includes Adaptec EZ CD Creator. It is an above-average program which is incredibly easy to use and is perfect for the beginner CD burning user.
Overall
At the present time this unit is rather cheap, not much over $200. At a decent price this is a great buy and I recommend this unit very highly.
