| onabreak2's Full Review: Canon BJC 1000 InkJet Printer |
I just purchase this Canon Bubble Jet Printer from an auction site. The deal I got on it was so good I could not pass it up. I had ruined my Lexmark printer when I used ink refills in it.
The installation on this one was a breeze. I took it out of the box and removed the shipping tape and the protective material that came in side of it. Installed the paper support that comes with it. This was easy as pie. Then I connected the printer to the computer. This was the hardest part for me because of the way my computer is set up. I had to crawl around on the floor and try to see the port to put it in. I recommend having a flashlight if you have to do this. Also the computer was off when I was doing all this.
You hook the cable to the computer and then plug the other end of the parallel cable into the printer. You have to start the computer up at this point to see if any new hardware is found when you start the computer. After doing this I plugged it into the outlet in the wall
You then remove the orange cap from the Ink Jet cartridge and removed the orange tape. There is a blue lever in the printer that you raise and two yellow guides that you put the inkjet cartridge in between. Then I press the Blue lever back down and the ink was installed. Easy as Pie.As soon as you close the front of the computer (the door), the ink moves over to the right side of the printer. The printer also comes with a holder for the ink if you switch from color to black ink.
A CD comes with the printer with all the software that they have provided for the printer. It has the driver on it and several programs to make cards and print pictures. Screen Savers, Stationery, Internet Access and the updates for the printer and software that comes with it.
What I Like about it: It is quieter then my other printer was and seems to be a little faster. It was very easy to set up and it is very easy to install the cartridge and the paper. I believe that a trained chimp could do the last two and maybe all of the installation.
What I don’t like: I am not impressed with the software that came with it for making cards and all the other banners and things that you are suppose to be able to make. It seems rinky-dink to me. Maybe it is because my CD player is not working right half of the time. The programs freeze up the computer and I have to turn it off. This may be a Windows 98 problem. I still don’t like the software itself. It is not what they present it to be on the package. Maybe I will like it better after I use it more.
Another thing that I do not like, is the fact that the colors are not really crisp like you would expect them to be on a new ink jet cartridge. There are several settings that you can set them at but I think the default one itself should be sharp to begin with.
For the price I paid for this it will serve my purposes very well, so I will not complain too much.
The printer itself is great. I would recommend it highly to anyone that is looking for an inexpensive printer. I paid $35.00 for it. This printer can be used on Windows 98, Windows 95, or Windows NT 4.0. It can also be used on Windows 3.1, but you have to follow special instructions if you are installing it under that operating system
Note: I had to type the word rinkydink the way I did because Epinions said that the second half of the word was a bad nasty word. Maybe in another country but not here in America.
