I have a 7940. My ONLY complaint was, you can not play a DVD on a regular TV. It comes without the video out to TV connection etc. What a booger. I'd think the engineers would figure if the machine has a DVD you might want to watch a movie on your TV and run a cable to it.
Other than that no complaints.

What happened to resolve the start-up problem? I have 2 new similar Compaq's, a 7970 and 5900Z-600) and am very satisfied with them. Also, if benchmarked against the same MHz Dell, the Compaq should hold its own quite well. And on top of that, it has features like the Digital Creativity Center that aren't available elsewhere.

There were two things that made me rate this review SR. The first reason was the lack of detail- PLEASE tell me more about this computer and why you did not like it. Why would it fail when tested against others in its class? And second- you have SEVERAL obvious spelling and grammatical errors in the review. A little proof-reading goes a long way.
