Cooking is a passion for both my husband and myself, and I've been collecting the things for about 15 years now. :)

Several hundred?
*boggle*
I really like cookbooks... but I don't really enjoy cooking. Go figure :)
I think Andrew would clobber me if I ever started a real cookbook collection.

*laugh* This is what you get when you talk to someone who has several hundred cookbooks. ;)

Well, now I'll have to go through some of my cookbooks to see what the norm is. See all this extra work you're putting me through? Not Helpful at all....

I think the little things like that do add up to make a cookbook more or less useful; certainly I think the majority of the cookbooks I have used list such things in the ingredient list to make sure you don't miss them.
Let's put it this way--the author loses absolutely nothing whatsoever that I can think of by putting them in, and potentially makes things easier on the cook. Therefore, I can't think of any reason not to put it in, and at least one reason for adding it.

Really good review here... but I have to disagree with the need to put chips or crackers or buns on the ingredients lists. I won't say I've never forgotten to pick up the chips or whatever, but they aren't part of the dip and I would be surprised to see them listed in the recipe... except perhaps as a sentance at the end (eat with your favorite chips).
