I really like this bible. I am actually reading the NIV (rather than the NLT,) but that is irrelevant for this review.
In this version, the text is arranged in the order that they happened. This means that while reading Genesis, you'll also read some of the genealogies from 1 Chronicles. I like this arrangement better than having to read a long list of begats later.
Proverbs is also treated much better, as the reading goes through almost the entire book, with only a bit of 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles thrown in.
The minor prophets are also interspersed in the proper timeline. When I read the One Year Bible last year, by the time I reached the minor prophets, I could barely remember who was king at a particular time.
If you want to read through the Bible in one year, I highly recommend this version.
Having just completed reading the One Year Bible (ISBN 0-529-07097-9,) I find that I like the chronological version better. There is no particular reason for the chapters read each day, other than their order in the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. They don't necessarily relate to each other. Unfortunately, this edition now appears to be out of print. The other aspect I didn't like about the One Year Bible was its treatment of Proverbs; most of the time, you read only one or two verses, and I found that annoying and hard to follow.
