| ribqah's Full Review: T-Fal Ingenio Cookware Sets |
I have always loved to cook. However, when I moved into a cozy apartment;(cozy being defined as extremely small), I found that the tiny kitchen and lack of storage space made it difficult to do the all day baking and brewing that I so enjoyed.
While browsing in the housewares department one day, I stumbled across T-Fal Ingenio cookware and was immediately struck by the space saving possibilities of these multi-function sets of cookware. I immediately recognized that the removable handles and storage capacity of this cookware would definitely streamline my kitchen...if, in fact, the pots and pans worked as well as T-Fal's marketing department said they did.
I was a bit skeptical, but I brought a set home, anyway. After my first time using them, I took all my old pots and pans and a majority of my bakeware and donated them to a charity. T-Fal Ingenio cookware is fantastic!
The pots and pans heat evenly, which makes stovetop cooking a dream. The handles are easy to remove and snap back on, which saves a lot of space. Two small warnings, though. The handles are made to snap on firmly and so the release button is a bit stiff...it also may take you moment to snap them back on. So, if you have something that may potentially boil over, I'd suggest you leave the handles on while cooking. And if you do leave the handles on, handle them with a potholder to avoid getting burned. The mechanism on the bottom part of the handle is metal and will heat up if in contact with your pan.
Since the handles are removable, you can also bake with this cookware, saving you a lot of room that would otherwise be dedicated to the storage of cookie sheets and cake pans. This cookware is stackable, and I can store every piece together on one shelf of my cupboards. I can also use the included plastic covers and refrigerate leftovers without transferring them to other containers.
Clean up of this cookware is wonderfully simple. The non-stick surface requires nothing more than soap, water and a sponge...even burnt and dried on food comes right off. You can even wash these in the dishwasher. I hate doing dishes, and I constantly am letting the machine clean them.
The metal covers used during cooking did, I must admit, take some getting used to. However, after using them a while, I have come to really appreciate them. The vents on the top of one make steaming rice and vegetables easy. The other top has a built in strainer, which means that I no longer root around in the cabinets looking for something with which to drain my pasta.
Now I have extra room in my kitchen, I can store my ingredients and spices with ease. Plus, I find that my work surface is no longer strewn with pot lids and storage containers. My thanks to T-Fal for making a product that makes my life a little less cluttered.
