I am the equivalent of a beauty products technophobe. I admire all the new fangled girly gadgets, I love to look at them and read about them, yet I rarely take the plunge and use any of them. To illustrate just how much of a dinosaur I am, lets just say that my very first bath pouf was purchased this calendar year. And I only bought it because it was green and pretty and matched my bathroom. But along with that pouf I needed to buy some body wash. The idea of trying to rub enough Dove bar soap onto the pretty pouf to make it work was not appealing at all. Even if I did think about it for a minute or two. Having ditched that plan, I set about sniffing out just the right body wash for my new shower toy.
Sniffing is exactly what I did, too. I dont like strongly scented anything, so the first test any body wash was going to have to pass was the smell test. After smelling a few that were too floral or too cloyingly sweet or too musky or just plain too stinky, I came upon St. Ives Whipped Silk Moisturizing Body Wash. It was love at first whiff. A faint, fresh scent floated from the bottle as I stood in the aisle at Target, finally secure in the knowledge that I could bring home my pretty new pouf without fear of being gagged in the shower trying to use it.
St. Ives Whipped Silk Moisturizing Body Wash comes out of the bottle a pretty, pearly light periwinkle color (nicely accenting my pouf, thank you very much). Again, it smells terrific, light and fresh, and creates a good amount of lather as you pouf yourself clean. It does actually moisturize as well. Im always leery of products that are supposed to clean and moisturize because so often they do one and not the other. Not here. St. Ives does enough cleaning for even post-work-out showers and really does leave my skin soft and moisturized without leaving any residue behind (and without irritating my relatively sensitive skin). The scent is nice in the shower, but doesnt linger on my skin afterwards, which I appreciate, since the only smell I want floating around me all day is my perfume of choice, which does not mix well with scented beauty and hair products.
So whats the bang for your buck with this stuff? Well, I got it at Target, which tells you right off that this is not a fancy schmancy high end beauty product, and Im glad of it. A gimundo 18 oz. bottle set me back about $3.50 and itll probably last me several months. Thats a price I can live with.
So for all you beauty product-phobics out there, St. Ives Whipped Silk Moisturizing Body Wash is a perfect way to ease yourself into the new world of poufs and washes and all that delicious girly stuff youve been afraid to try. It smells great during use, leaves no lingering fragrance or residue, actually cleans well and does leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized. It has been a great product during this long cold, dry stretch of late winter, keeping those cold weather scalies away completely. My pretty green bath pouf and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
