beeswaxx's Full Review: Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-N505 Personal MiniDisc Play...
I was going to buy a MP3 player, but a salesperson showed me the Sony MiniDisc. I went home and did a little research. I bought it the same day. I am very glad I bought this over a mp3 player. I have been using it for three days, and the battery is still full. The sound quality is excellent and it is very easy to use. The software is very simple to use.
I read one review saying something about check-in's and check-outs. It was saying that you had three chances to check-out songs, and you could only check out three songs, or something like that. What that means is that you can only check-out a song three times, there are only three copies of the song on the hardrive, so you can't be making copies for all of your friends, only three. That really confused me, so I bought it and I was going to try it. If I didn't like the software I would have returned it. It is just basically keeping track of the songs you have on different disks.
The downloading from the computer could be a little quicker, but it sure beats downloading in real time.
The sound volume is great. I was worried about it skipping. While I was doing a paper route for a friend, I had it in my pocket. Constant bumps with each step. It didn't skip once.
I spent $274.00 (Canadian) and just bought five new disks for $16.00 (Can) Thats much better than mp3 player where you would spend $100.00(Can) for a Smart mmedia card.
It has a feature that lets you record straight to the MD player from a C.D. player. It says you have to use an optical cable, but if you put it in an output socket that doesnt have optical, it doesn't work. I just use a plan speaker cable with two mini ends. Works fine.
The earbuds that come with it are fine for sound quality, but they are very uncomfortable.
I would definatly recomend this.
