Pros: Heavy volume wide area good price No cords Attractant lasts long time & quiet
Cons: High Maintenance Difficult Keeping fan clean Sticky cover hard to apply w/o sticking to hands
The Bottom Line: Get one! It's worth the hassle keeping it clean, and works like a fiend sucking up bugs. Maybe next year they'll fix the fan issue.

| wwatcher's Full Review: SkeeterVac |
We just bought one of these, as well as a Mosquito Magnet, a month ago. They both cost the same. The Mosquito Magnet works well, but is only 1/2 acre coverage, but it is easy to maintain. But its attractant lasts much shorter than Skeeter Vac, and all the extra needed stuff costs more. The Skeeter Vac works at least double to the Mosquito Magnet in capacity for same cost. I have had to empty the basket at least every two days since we bought it. We live in Maine, and the black fly season is horrendous, as are the mosquitoes this particular year. Each morning I check these two units to see their effectiveness. The Skeeter Vac clearly works more volume, than the Mosquito Vac. HOWEVER, there are some problems with the maintenance issues of the Sketter Vac. Because of the huge numbers of insects we are catching, we have had to change the sticky paper once a week, because it becomes absolutely covered with bugs, and even so, within a week the fan stopped working because of the buildup of dead insects. (If I were to re-design this thing, I would make a greater space between the fan housing and the fan to avoid this problem - easy thing to do, and they should have foreseen it.) Cleaning the fan is a chore, in particular, getting the back side of each blade, which you MUST do, or the buildup re-occurs within 48 hours, and the fan stops again. To be fair to this machine, Maine is extraordinarily buggy, this year like a jungle, so it may explain the buildup. Finally, the first one we bought had problems starting the fan - their 800 number was superb, offered to send us a new one, or take the thing back to Sams and replace, which we did for a new one. Mosquitoe Magnet however, in asking a question about a problem with their's, was polite, but kind of stupid. Though their return through HOme Depot is probably just as good as Sams. Otherwise, this thing is a God-send. I can walk outside during the day, after two weeks of it running, without netting and bug-off - still insects about, but in a tolerable number. I wish I had had this many years ago.
