Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns is a handy book to have around the uninhibited couples bedroom. Or if you leave it on the coffee table it is certainly a conversation starter. (ha ha)
Screw the Roses is a very well written book the explores the world of BDSM for new comers to the life style. Now my sexuality is not on display here, I am very liberated and open minded when it comes to things like this, but I am not parading my choices in the bedroom for all to see. Suffice to say I have read the book and others like it and found it to be the best on the subject out there.
The authors have taken the time to explain step by step the subtle nuances of bondage and domination to the beginner and take extra careful measures to assure the reader of how to practice this safely. They explain safe words, safety measures so no one is hurt, what is wrong and right. BDSM is not for everyone, but lots of people enjoy spicing up their love life at times, and if you are going to do it, do it safely for yourself and your partner.
The book takes you into the world of domination and submission from a practicing couples point of view. And how it is written is very simple to understand. If someone says no, then no is what it means. All throughout the book it pounds the point in that safety and respect for your partner is the number one priority.
Most of what it covers is "how to" for beginners. And step by step they tell you what is acceptable to both consenting parties is ok to do. There are views by women and by men. And a lot of careful thought has obviously been put into writing this book.
My interest was curiosity, but from the first page, I wanted to read more. After all, the taboo things are those that can be the most interesting.
If a little harmless spice is what you need in life then pick up this book and read it with your partner. By all means you BOTH must want to try it or it is not pleasurable for both of you. As with anything of this nature, caution is the key word. Your safety must be first and foremost. Never ever go into any situation with out precautions. This is also mentioned in the book. Always make sure someone knows where you are and who you are with if you decide to explore this avenue of sexuality. You can never be too careful in matters like this.
Be safe, Be sane, and never leave yourself unprotected.
